Spring Trends 2011!

Here are 10 Spring trends that will surely keep you looking chic for the season.
Malandrino Spring RTW 2011

1. High waisted wide leg pants: Wide leg pants were all over the runways this year along with high waisted pants in general. Having a pair in a neutral color will get you one step ahead of this years spring fashion. It can easily become a staple in your wardrobe which is essential if you want to get more bang for your buck. As with any garment, having it in an off beat color may be fun but not practical as colors go in an out of season quickly. Your Purple pants may be in this season but out the next!

2. Orange and Purple: This is purely trend and may go out of season quickly but if you want to be the trendiest person on your block this spring you might want to try mixing these two colors. You can either pair them up as separates (left) for a color blocking effect or have them both in one item (right).

3. Print Mixing: It takes some skill to masterfully mix two very different prints but this year its all the rage and the possibilities seem to be endless. Plus there seems to be a steep margin for error. The funkier the better. Try mixing plaids with florals.

4. Airy Materials: Go with the flow this spring. Wear any flowing, gauzy material and you are instantly chic!

5. White Staples: Having a staple item in white will make any outfit on trend. A pant, a blouse or a blazer in white can update any outfit.

6. Western Hippy Chic: If you own anything that looks like it belongs on Bonanza, you have yourself a 2011 trendy piece. This western 70's vibe is easy to pull off. All you need is a leather accessory such as a boot or a belt, light wash denim, lace, and/or some feathers. Fringe is also in this year.

8. Nautical themes: you can never go wrong with a subtle nautical theme in the spring. Many people are out on boats and boardwalks anyway so might as well dress for the occasion. Nautical themed pants or accessories are easy to find. Colors like navy, white and red can easily take you there. Just make sure your outfit isn't loaded with nautical items. Choose one item to represent this theme and add neutral pieces to it. Having an outfit thats too over the top puts you at risk of looking like you are wearing a Popeye the Sailor Man costume .

9. Spring Blazers: This is another wardrobe staple. Blazers can be the finishing touch on any outfit. They also spruce up boring outfits, giving you a put together look. Having multiple jackets in neutral colors can help you make endless amounts of outfits for any occasion. Try fabrics like denim, cotton, twill, and linen for an airy look.

10. The Maxi Dress: Maxi dresses have become very popular over the years and this year is no exception. They have come back with a twist. Like rompers/jumpers they are the complete outfit and all you need to make them look fabulously chic are a few accessories. They allow you to have fun and be flirty. Try getting ones in bright festive colors.
